pinch of asafoetida
1 cup grated fresh coconut
3 tbsp roasted chick peas
water as required
3 green chillis , salt to taste
coriander leaves-small bunch
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urad dal
few curry leaves
2 whole dry red chillis
1.Grind all the above ingredients with enough water to make a semi-solid consistency.
2.Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds, whole red chilli, urad dal and curry leaves and fry till brown.
3.Add to the coconut chutney and serve with idli / dosas/ vadas.
Variation: You can make the same chutney without chick peas.
