Wheat halwa

Ingredients

1 cup of whole wheat flour
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of ghee
3 cups of water
2 teaspoons of freshly ground cardamom powder (optional)
1/4 cup sliced almonds (optional)

Method

Boil the water in a pan and keep aside.

Mix the wheat flour and ghee. Heat a wok/pan and roast the wheat flour mixture on medium heat until it releases a roasted aroma, about 5 minutes. Keep stirring continuously while it is roasting. The color will also change to a little darker brown.

Add the sugar and cardamom powderto the wheat flour mixture and mix well. Now slowly start adding the hot water to the wheat flour mixture, stiring coninuously.

The mixture will thicken. Stir continuously for 5 – 10 minutes on medium heat after it thickens and turn the heat off.

A great dessert, that tastes best when it is served warm and garnished with sliced almonds or roasted cashewnuts.
