This Criminal petition is filed under Section 438 of Cr.P.C
praying to enlarge the petitioner on bail in the event of her
arrest in Crime No.18/2018 (C.C.No.155/2018) of Srirangapatna
Police Station, Mandya District for the offence punishable under
Sections 498A, 340B read with 34 of IPC.

This Criminal petition coming on for Orders, this day, the
Court made the following:

ORDER

The petitioner is the mother-in-law of the deceased.

The deceased married the son of the petitioner on

19.06.2017.

2. According to the prosecution, deceased was

subjected to ill-treatment and harassment in the matrimonial

home. It is alleged that the husband of the deceased as well

as her in-laws were demanding additional dowry from her and

being unable to bear the cruelty meted out to her, on

26.01.2018 the deceased committed suicide by hanging in the

matrimonial home.

3. Accused No.1 is in judicial custody. Accused No.2-

father-in-law is already enlarged on bail. The petitioner

remained absconding and has approached this Court only

after submission of the charge sheet. However having regard

to the nature of the allegations made against the petitioner

and she being a woman, in the interest of justice, the petition

is allowed.

4. Hence, the following:

ORDER

Criminal petition is allowed. The petitioner is directed

to appear before the Court within 15 days from the date of

this order and on her appearance, she shall be enlarged on

bail subject to the following conditions:-

a. The petitioner shall furnish a bond in a sum
of Rs.1.00 lakh(Rupees One lakh only) with
two sureties for the likesum to the
satisfaction of the jurisdictional Court;

b. The petitioner shall appear before the Court
as and when required;

c. The petitioner shall not threaten or allure
the prosecution witnesses.
