The following Act of Parliament received the assent of the President on the 19th March, 1958, and was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II Sec. 1. No. 6. dated the 21st March, 1958. An Act to continue Control of Shipping Act, 1947, for a further period. Be it enacted by Parliament in the Ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-

2. Amendment of section 1

ln sub-section (3) of section 1 of the Control of Shipping Act, 1947(26 of 1947), for the figures “1958”, the figures “1960” shall be substituted. Notes This section extends the life of the Control of Shipping Act, 1947byanother two years in view of its importance pending the passing of the Merchant Shipping Bill, which is pending in the Parliament.
