Most Sperm Donor Kids to be Fatherless

Lesbians and single women are on course to become the largest group to have donor insemination, new figures from the Government’s fertility watchdog suggest.
They accounted for more than a third of women (38 per cent) who had the treatment last year, compared to 28 per cent in 2003 and 18 per cent in 1999, statistics from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) show.
If the upward trend continues, which fertility experts predict, most children born through donated sperm could be fatherless within the next few years.
