Me and my wife have been harassed by a couple living outside india. They have been sending sms and emails using foul language and threats. The husband says i have had illicit relations with his wife when she was here in India. Which is false. Now they frequently send dirty sms to us. I also have filed a NC at the police station. The police denied to file an FIR under some IT act. My lawyer suggested me to go for a private complaint under sec 156 (3). I want to know how it can be done or is there any other way in law where we would be safe.

if police do not take your complaint write to SP;
and now if you are in india, findout senders cell provider and complain to them, to take action or block all future SMS from that number.
Section 156 says about [ http://mynation.net/laws/bare-acts/crpc/crpc-s156.htm ] 156. Police officer’s power to investigate cognizable cases
