Ingredients:
1 cup – basmathi rice
1/2 cup – frozen peas
2 (1 inch sticks) – cinnamon
5 – cloves
1/2 tsp – jeera
1 – bay leaf
1 or 2 – green chillies
1/2 cup – onions, chopped
cilantro for garnishing
2 tbsp – ghee(clarified butter)
1 tbsp – oil
Method:
Rinse and soak basmathi rice in water for 15 minutes.
Heat oil and ghee in a pan.
Temper cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf and jeera.
When they crackle, add onions and green chillies.
Fry till onions turn golden brown.
Throw in peas and fry for a minute.
Switch off the gas.
For 1 cup of rice, add 2 cups of water, fried onions and peas, salt and cook in the rice cooker.
