In Indian law, Red Corner Notices<\/strong> (RCNs) and Lookout Circulars<\/strong> (LOCs) are both issued by the law enforcement agencies, but they serve different purposes:<\/p>\n

    • RCN is issued by Interpol at the request of a member country.<\/li>\n
    • It is a request to locate and provisionally arrest an individual pending extradition.<\/li>\n
    • RCN is issued against a person who has committed a serious criminal offense and is wanted for prosecution or to serve a sentence in the requesting country.<\/li>\n
    • RCN is based on a valid national arrest warrant issued by the requesting country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

      • LOC is issued by Indian law enforcement agencies such as the police or investigating agencies.<\/li>\n
      • It is a preventive measure used to monitor, track, and restrict the movement of a person who is either wanted by the police for questioning or is a suspect in a case under investigation.<\/li>\n
      • LOC can be issued against any person, including individuals involved in civil disputes or financial irregularities, apart from criminal offenses.<\/li>\n
      • LOC is not an international warrant, but a domestic tool used to prevent a person from leaving the country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
