In the matter of an application for bail under Section 439 of the Code of Criminal
Procedure filed on 06.02.2019 in connection with Palashipara P.S. Case No. 261
of 2018 dated 16.12.2018 under Sections 498A/304B/34 of the Indian Penal Code.

The learned Advocate appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits
that the petitioner is in custody for about 52 days and a charge sheet has
been submitted in this case. He submits that actually there were quarrels
between the husband and the wife as a result of which the victim/wife
committed suicide by hanging. He submits that the petitioner is the mother-
in-law of the victim.
The learned Advocate appearing on behalf of the State submits that
the occurrence took place within three years of marriage of the couple.
Referring to the relevant statements under Section 161 as also Section 164
of the Code, the learned Advocate submits that there are strong materials
present in the case diary against the present petitioner. He submits that the
petitioner and other-in-laws used to torture the victim for getting more dowry
as a result of which the victim committed suicide.
We have heard the submissions of the learned Advocates appearing
on behalf of the petitioner and the State and have perused the case diary.
Considering the materials available in the case diary and the
seriousness of the allegations, we are not inclined to grant bail to the
