Mr. Siladitya Sanyal, Sr. Advocate
Mr. Sujan Chatterjee, Advocate
..for the Petitioners

Mr. Saswata Gopal Mukherjee, Ld. P.P.
Mr. Rudradipta Nandy, Advocate

.. for the State

The petitioners seek anticipatory bail in connection with

Burwan Police Station Case No. 165 of 2018 dated

22.05.2018 under Sections 498A/304B/302/34 of the Indian

Penal Code and section 3 /4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.

The petitioners say that they were not involved in the

incident which resulted in the death of the victim.

However, the State produces the injury report wherein a

statement of the victim is recorded. The victim apparently

claimed that her mother-in-law, her husband’s sister and

such sister’s husband set her ablaze after pouring kerosene

oil on her.

Since these petitioners appear to have been referred to in

the victim’s statement that they may have been directly

involved in the incident, their prayer cannot be acceded to.

CRM 5211 of 2018 is rejected.

A certified copy of this order be immediately made

available to the petitioners subject to compliance with all

requisite formalities.
