In the instant petition, petitioners have sought for quashing of

FIR No.122 dated 31.05.2014 (Annexure P-1) under Section 406 IPC,

registered at Police Station Sultanwind, District Amritsar and all subsequent

proceedings arising therefrom, on the basis of compromise dated 21.02.2015

(Annexure P-2).

2.) There was a dispute among the petitioners and the private

respondents arising out of marriage proposal i.e., after ring ceremony was

over. Consequently, FIR has been filed. During pendency of the FIR

No.122 dated 31.05.2014, parties have entered into compromise on

21.02.2015 (Annexure P-2). Proceeding in the case not commenced so far

i.e. challan not filed by the police so far. In terms of the compromise,

petitioners have handed over a cheque for a sum of ` 5,00,000/- towards full

and final settlement. Both the parties are present in the Court and they have

no objection to dispose the case in view of compromise. Cheque is in the

name of Smt. Preetam Kaur-respondent No.2.

3.) Learned counsel for the State has no objection in quashing the

FIR on the basis of compromise.

4.) In view of these developments, FIR No.122 dated 31.05.2014

(Annexure P-1) under Section 406 IPC, registered at Police Station

Sultanwind, District Amritsar and all subsequent proceedings therefrom are

quashed subject to payment of cost of ` 2,000/- by each of the petitioner to

the State of Punjab. Cost shall be remitted in the Home Department, State

of Punjab within 1 month from today. If the cheque is not realized in that

event, complainant is permitted to make necessary application for revival of

this order.

5.) With the above observations, petition stands allowed.
