ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent police to file final report in Crime No.5 of 2015 pending on the file the Inspector of Police, W-31, All women Police Station, St. Thomas Mount, Chennai 600 016, as per law, within the stipulated period.

2. The case of the petitioner is that as against her husband and his lover Deepa, she has lodged a complaint with the respondent police and the same was registered as FIR in Crime No.10 of 2015 for the offences punishable under Sections 294(b), 323, 498A and 506(ii) IPC. Subsequently, after enquiry, the case was transferred to the file of the Inspector of Police, W-31, All Women Police Station, St. Thomas Mount, Chennai-16 and renumbered as FIR in Crime No.5 of 2015. Though the complaint was taken on file on 21.09.2015, till date, final report was not filed. Hence, this petition.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, who took notice for the respondent.

4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court directs the Inspector of Police, W-31 All Women Police Station, St. Thomas Mount, Chennai-600 016, to investigate the case in Crime No.5 of 2015 pending on her file and file a final report as expeditiously as possible, preferably, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. Accordingly, the Criminal Original Petition is ordered.
