The argument that the First Information Report for the offences
punishable under Section 498A read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal
Code, 1860 and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, be
quashed and set aside by consent of the accused and the complainant is
attractive. But such inducement to quash fails in the absence of any
precedent and the provisions of law empowering this Court to quash such
proceedings once the charge is framed. In the present case, the charge
has already been framed and in the absence of any decision being relied
upon, we are constrained to dismiss this application.
