Section 51 – Factories Act, 1948

Factories Act, 1948





No adult workers shall be required or allowed to work in a factory for more than forty-eight hours in any week.




Section 51 puts an embargo on the employer’s right to prescribe total working hours for a week; National Textile Corporation (D.P. & R.) Ltd. Units Mahalaxmi Mills, Beawar v. Labour Court, Jaipur, 1997 LLR 518.
