The Presidency Small Cause Courts Act,1882

Section 93. Certain persons exempt from arrest by Court

The President 1[***], the Governors of 2[Madras], 3[Bombay and 4[West Bengal]], 5[***] and the Chief Justices and Judges of the High Courts 6[for Part A States], shall not be liable to arrest by order of the Small Cause Court.


1. The words “and Members of his Council” were the A.O.1948

2. Subs., A.O.1948, for “Fort St.George”

3. Subs. by Act 7 of 1912, s.7 and Sch.E, for “and Bombay”

4. Subs. by the A.O.1948 for “Fort William in Bengal”

5. The words “and the Members of their respective Councils” were rep, by the A O.1937.The words “the Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal” were Act 7 of 1912, s.7 and Sch.E

6. Subs. by the A.O.1950 for “established under twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth of Victoria, Chapter 104”
