Multinational drug companies along with Toxicology expert raises alarm over the news of the claim of Cancer cure from a humble fruit Soursop, even they have no proof that Soursop will not cure or help to cure Cancer. Its scientific name is Annona muricata. It is also known as custard apple, cherimoya, guanabana, soursop.
Soursop or Graviola is a small evergreen tree. Soursop fruit, with its sweet flesh and distinctive flavor, The leaves, fruit, seeds, and stem are used in various types of medicines. Soursop comes from the graviola tree, an evergreen native to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America, Other names are Annona cherimola, Annona macrocarpa, Annona muricata, Brazilian Cherimoya, Brazilian Paw Paw,etc.
Soursop is used to treat infections caused by bacteria and parasites including leishmaniasis, a disease caused by parasites transmitted through the bite of sand fleas; herpes; coughs; and cancer. It is also used to cause vomiting and to empty the bowels. Some people use graviola to help them relax.
Soursop is applied to the skin for arthritis
There are many claims that soursop extract can slow the spread of cancer or make traditional cancer therapies work better.
Some also claim it will treat various illnesses like :
Cancer. There is evidence that some of the chemicals in graviola may keep cancer cells from removing anticancer drugs. This may help the drugs work better. Some chemicals in graviola may also kill cancer cells directly.
Inflammation of the nose and throat.
An infection caused by sand fleas (leishmaniasis).
Emptying the bowels. etc.
Soursop’s contain fatty acid derivatives called annonaceous aceteogenins. The predominant acetogenin is annonacin, So far there is no Scientific evidence to show that graviola works as a cure for cancer; but in many countries have used graviola to treat infections with viruses or parasites, rheumatism, arthritis, depression, and sickness.

I grew up eating this fruit and drinking the juice made from it as a child.
The claim that it could lead to movement disorders similar to Parkinson is ridiculous and very much a scare tactic being employed DRUG COMPANIES.
The study which is cited to support that claim, used only 87 ppl who were already diagnosed with having some for a two year period where they were questioned about what they ate.
A conclusion was then drawn that “some tropical fruits and teas can lead to Parkinson or Parkinson type symptoms. I find that to be a joke.
If that is the case, my study from family history shows way over 87 ppl that have consumed soursop and it’s juices for over 30+ years and none have developed this.
