Channel 7, an Indian TV Channel aired a 30 minutes program on thousands of families, who face utter misery due to some vicious women who file false cases of Section 498a on these families. Parveen Walia and his team at Delhi protest every alternate saturday against this Law Section 498a which is creating misery for thousands of innocent elders, mothers and sisters.

The program starts with the story of a family whose son is settled in US and he marries an Indian woman working in US. Due to the difference in their marriage, the woman comes to India and files false case of section 498a alleging cruelty by mother-in-law and brother-in-law in Delhi who had literally no contact with her. The elderly mother and innocent brother-in-law were jailed for 7 days. The woman happily returned back to US to continue her work and simply does not appear in hearings in courts. The accused persons under section 498a are considered guilty till they prove themselves innocent. The trial of these cases begins after 3 years and it takes another 2 more years to get an acquital. There is no punishment or even fine for those who file the false cases of 498a. Channel 7 approaches the complainants and their families, who simply have got no answers and hence they end up giving lame excuses.
