SPAIN - 1931, 10P unissued Republica overprint

10P unissued Republica overprint, 1931 is one of the most interesting philatelic items of Spanish philately. The design of the stamp is made in brown colour and depicts King Alfonso XIII. On April 14, 1931, Alfonso XIII was forced to quit his throne and Spain was declared a Republic. At the time the stamps of the “Vaquer II” issue were officially overprinted with “República Española” in blue and red. Some values do exist with reversed and double overprints. An attractive set of 10P unissued Republica overprint, 1931 in a very fine condition, signed Roig and Bloch, accompanied by 1993 Comex certificate, was sold at Cherrystone auction in October, 2009 fetching $1,800.
