NORWAY – 1896, 10 øre Postfrim stamp – worth $2,369

NORWAY - 1896, 10 øre Postfrim stamp

Postfrim 10 øre stamp is one of the classic Poshorn stamps introduced by Norway Post in 1896. The design of this issue was created by German architect Friedrich Wilhelm von Hanno. These philatelic items show the country as NORGE, the Norwegian name for Norway and a coiled post horn. The denomination of the stamp is printed inside the coil of the horn. The corners of the stamp are embellished with small wheels with attached wings, symbolizing speedy delivery of the mail. The inscription POSTFRIM that is a shortened version of postfrimarke (postage stamp) was inserted in the bottom part of the central oval. One of the rarest examples of Postfrim 10 øre stamp with large margins was offered by Kjell Germeten at its sale that took place in November, 2017. The lot was sold for $2,369.

  1. Hello,
I have one of these but is perforated. What would be the best way to get my stamp appraised and sold?
    Thank you

    • Check with the local stamp expert for authenticity, to check its errors, watermarks etc before certifying else it cost you lot of money for not real stamp
