CAPE OF GOOD HOPE - 1861, Color Error - SOLD for $12,000

This is the famous triangular stamp of the Cape of Good Hope of 1861 with a color error. This stamp appeared as a result of a printing error. Two stamps were printed — a 1-penny stamp in red and a 4-pence stamp in blue. However, due to an error that occurred during the assembly of the printing form, individual stamps were printed in the wrong color.
