      Hello all,

I was told by the lawyer that for filing defamation cases against IPC 499, 500, we need to pay the fees to the court at the time of filing the case. i..e. for example for claiming the defamation of 1 lakh, we need to pay the amopunt of almost 8000/- to the court as fees. further the fees amount increases as per the defamation amount. So my querry is…

      1) whether we have to pay such fees to the court at the time of or before filing the case as per the prescribed fees slab. or

      2) the fees amount will be decided by the court at the end when defamation is proved, i.e. at the time of final judgement. and depending on the defamation amount the fees will be finalized.

      3) i know its funny to ask this question, but still, …what is the time frame of finalization of such defamation cases.

      4) are these cases considers judgements of 498 cases, wherein the husband walks free with a judgement that “there are no sufficient evidences against the accused.” since the court will never says that the 498 case is false.

      thanks to all
